Newman Books To Publish Peter Cubitt's First Collection Of Poetry

Newman Books are to publish Peter Cubitt's first collection of poems, called Walking with Words, which will be available in December 2008.

Peter's poetry has an extraordinary range: from a two line play on words, to in-depth emotional studies of the human condition that, through side-achingly funny observations and explorations (as anyone who saw him at The Stratford International Festival of Literature can testify), can stop us dead in our tracks.

It is poetry of the highest calibre that is also hugely accessible, even for people who don't normally read, or profess not to like poetry.

Peter - a former teacher who lives and works in Shakespeare's Stratford - is also an actor of some repute.

Watch this space for more details of the publication date.

Airman Missing, by Greg Lewis, launched at The Stratford International Festival of Literature

Greg Lewis's wonderfully exciting new book, Airman Missing, was launched at The Stratford International Festival of Literature last Saturday, the 20th April 2008.

It was a lovely, and very emotional occasion, with the 88 year old WWII bomber pilot John Evans there as guest of honour, surrounded by members of his family who had travelled to Stratford-upon-Avon from all over the country.

The book tells the true story of John's 114 days behind enemy lines ( and the story of the brave people who helped him) after his Halifax bomber was shot down by Luftwaffe night-fighter ace Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer over Belgium in 1944.

Airman Missing can be ordered directly from Newman Books by sending a cheque (made payable to 'Newman Books') to:

Newman Books
8 Henley Street
Stratford-upon-Avon
Warwickshire
CV37 6PT

The price is £7.99, plus £1.99 P&P in the UK (plus 25p per book if more than one), and £2.99 P&P outside the UK, again plus 25p per book if more than one. Orders over £25 will be delivered free in the UK.
